Valentine’s Day 2022: Self Love
“Document the moments you feel most in love with yourself – what you’re wearing, who you’re around, what you’re doing. Recreate and repeat.” —Warsan Shire
Wow, it sure has been awhile, hasn’t it? Where do I even begin? What’s a blog? Just kidding, haha!
Today is Valentine’s Day 2022 so before I begin, I wanted to wish you and your loved ones a very Happy Valentine’s!
Remember love is all about expressing it unexpectedly and in the little moments, not just on February 14th. I pray you all have a wonderful time celebrating!
That said, first of all, if you’re still here with me, thank you!!! Thank you for your patience. I appreciate you for staying with me. Your support means the world!!!
A lot has happened within the last few months, but I am incredibly thrilled to be back to blogging again! Because I express my emotions better with writing rather than verbally, I wanted to share it with you everything that’s happened in the form of an article.
AS OF LATE, I’VE BEEN…
MISSING IN ACTION
My blog broke at the end of October due to some issues with my website’s host on the back end. It worked on and off and considering I’m a one-woman show, I decided to leave it broken. I ended up posting on my Instagram and the LTK app to keep things updated rather than fight technology.
I had also been struggling a bit so I wasn’t even in the right frame of mind to get things back up and running again.
WATCHING
I haven’t seen any new movies or shows on my list, but in the fall, two of my best friends and I watched a special on Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz since we are big I Love Lucy fans. I also finally watched the Friends Reunion which spurred me to start the entire series all over again after not seeing it for many years.
Of course, I had to balance my binging with reruns of Frasier, Avatar, and The Simpsons.
READING
I haven’t been reading as much as I usually do, but did finish The Four Agreements by and Chase the Lion: If Your Dream Doesn’t Scare You, It’s Too Small and In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day: How to Survive and Thrive When Opportunity Roars both by Mark Batterson.
I’m also slowly working my way through the first book of the Dragon Heart series by Kirill Klevanski. If you’re new here, epic fantasy books are a way for me to escape reality.
Most importantly, I’ve been reading my daily Bible verses, Bible plans (specifically on finances), and reading an amazing daily devotional that’s been my literal saving grace. I’m already on a second round because it’s been that helpful. On top of that, I’ve been reading Heaven by Randy Alcorn. My friends wanted to read a book together so we have chosen this one to discuss.
PLAYING
I haven’t played tennis or worked out in so long! Game-wise, I played Yahtzee and Skipbo with family on New Year’s Eve. We also played Mario Party and let’s just say I’ll never play that game ever again. My best friends know how much I hate that game. It’s takes the top spot, bumping Monopoly to second and Phase 10 to third place of my “most-hated games” list.
EATING/DRINKING
My water intake has increased so much and I’m so proud of myself! However, my appetite has not been consistent. Some days, I want to eat, some days I don’t.
When I was struggling late fall, I hardly ate and ended up losing ten pounds. Not the way I wanted to release extra weight, but when I do have an appetite, I’ve been enjoying colorful salads.
WEARING
I’ve been living in a heavy rotation of tees, leggings, my hoodie, sweatpants, and pajamas. Loungewear is still the name of my game here. And I’m realizing I need to add more loungewear since I wear it so often.
BUYING
The last things I purchased for myself since the fall were some skincare and makeup from Rose Inc. and Chanel’s No. 1 collection. I’m working on using medical-grade skincare (brands like Isdin and Skinceuticals) to improve my tone and texture.
Fashion-wise, I’ve purchased another stunning dress from Audrey Leighton along with a set of vintage earrings, a shacket, pair of leather gloves, pearl combat boots, and a fun fuzzy top.
LISTENING
As of late, I’ve been playing a lot of Lindsey Sterling and worship music as I work. Good soul music to stay focused and keep my mind out of negative thoughts is exactly what I’ve been needing.
I’ve also been listening to some podcast episodes here and there too. Speaking of, I recorded my first podcast interview with my friends over at Power Stance Podcast. Have a listen and let me know what you think!
PLANNING
Lately, I’ve planning been some business goals and putting together my vision board. On top of that, I’ve been going to the chiropractor to make sure my body for tennis, running, and the gym. To me, exercise is a form of self-love.
LOOKING FOR
Truthfully, I’m looking to know Christ on a deeper level. I’ve been reading the Bible more lately, specifically 1 and 2 Samuel and learning a lot about trusting God and true leadership.
LOOKING FORWARD TO
Two big things I’m looking really forward to is daylight savings and getting that extra hour of sunshine back. The second? I’m more than ready for my triumphant return to the gym! Again, it’s a self-love thing for me.
LOVING
Comedy television shows and cute animal videos — they have been one of the few things that has saved me from dwelling in a lot of negative emotions.
THINKING ABOUT
Lately, I’ve been having conversations with one of my best friends on what heaven is like — I’m thinking lots of puppies everywhere, ha!
HATING
Cancel culture is what I hate the most right now. We are all human and we’ve all made mistakes. How can someone truly change for the better and move on if we keep condemning them? And since when can we not have a friendship or professional relationship with someone who has differing opinions? I miss that so much.
SLACKING ON
I’m slacking on staying consistent on social media and sending out my weekly email newsletters. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I sent an email newsletter out. Oops!
STRUGGLING WITH
I was doing SO well on sleep. Note, I said was. What I’m struggling with is not sleeping enough for the past month and a half. I’m working on loving myself more by going to bed earlier.
And that’s the latest update with me. No matter where you are in the world, let’s catch up with each other! How are you doing? Feeling?
Let me know in the comments what you’ve been up to lately. Feel free to contact me as well! Wishing you all a great Valentine’s Day 2022!

February 21, 2022Hi Huong, good to read an update from you! I had noticed that your blog wasn’t working properly. Some pages weren’t loading for me but I wasn’t entirely sure if it wasn’t working on my computer for some reason! Glad it’s back up and running now. 🙂
Thank you for the self-love reminder. 🙂
I like some Lindsey Sterling music too. And I agree with you about cancel culture , I don’t think you can actually “cancel” a person. Sorry to hear about your sleep issues. I’ve been going through a phase of finding it hard to sleep recently too.
Hope you’re doing ok and that you had a lovely Valentine’s Day! 🙂

March 28, 2022Hi Zania! So good to hear from you! I apologize for my late response. Yes, I’m so sorry. I went through a period of depression during the time my website was down, but decided to leave it broken so I work on myself. It’ll be up and running normally soon; hopefully with a face lift in the near future too!
You are most welcome for the self-love reminder. 🙂
I’m sorry to hear your difficulty with sleeping. I hope you are sleeping much better when you receive this message. x
