And we’re back with Transformation Thursday! This month has gone by quicker than I expected. In a sense, I’m ready for the holidays and in a sense, I’m not. Anyway, this post means that another month has passed us by in a blink of an eye! I cannot believe we’re about to enter into our final month of 2017 tomorrow!!!
Check out my finds for the month of November!
Article – Social Media (3 Minute Read)
HOW TO REALLY GROW A SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWING – The Truth, Lies and How to spot the fakes – Lydia Elise Millen
If y’all have been reading long enough, you know that Lydia is my absolute favorite vlogger! Aside from her style and personality, the way she handles herself online and conducts business that I’ve seen shows that she’s a true boss lady.
The truths she speaks in her blog post about social media, the buying of bots, loop giveaways (I have hated these for some reason and I’m glad someone agrees with me), etc. is something I feel strongly about. If you’re a growing influencer, no matter what your platform is, taking shortcuts is not the answer to being a true entrepreneur.
Check out what she has to say and let me know your thoughts if you conduct business on social media!
Article – Health (1 minute read)
This Is the After-Work Workout You Need to Be Doing If You Sit All Day by Dacy Knight of Byrdie
I have no idea if you knew this, but did you know that sitting a lot is bad for your health? I know, right?! When I found out about this, I was truly floored. Considering health is going to be one of my top three goals of 2018, I’m going to be incorporating the advice in the article into my health routine.
I sit a lot for my day job. This is, what? A ten minute workout routine? Maybe 15 minutes at most? I’m sure these exercises is so going to do me a lot of favors in the health department!
Book (Long read)
Destiny: Step into Your Purpose by Pastor TD Jakes
It took me months to read this book with my busy schedule. However, I finished it this month and it is SO good! Whether you believe in God or not, Pastor TD Jakes speaks a lot of truth about purpose, our individual destinies and the importance of us working through our doubts and fears to execute what we’re meant to do.
If you didn’t believe in yourself before or even have a hard time believing in yourself, I highly recommend this book!
I love it when authors read their own books so I read his book on Audible! Sidenote, he has a deep and soothing voice so he can put you to sleep if you listen to it long enough.
Blogger Resource
Bloguettes is another great resource for new bloggers or bloggers who are starting to take it seriously. This amazing team provides everything from webinars to very affordable Instagram classes you can take to tons of tutorials. They also have downloadables you can utilize and their Pinterest is full of endless resources!
Some downloadables are free and some you have to pay for, but in my opinion, the value they offer to get you going is worth it! Newbie bloggers, trust me. They pretty much have everything you can think of that you need/want to learn.
App
Hashtagged – If your business is on Instagram (which most brands/companies are these days), it would be wise to do everything you can to get discovered. This includes relevant hashtags. Considering you’re a busy boss lady, this app gives you hashtags that are relevant to your image. The app is broken up into categories and those categories have subcategories. Just go in, find the category you need, copy and paste! That’s it!
It’s pretty neat how easy it is to search keywords and if you don’t like a few of them, you can always change it up.
A few tips: 1) you are allowed up to 30 hashtags for your image/video post on Instagram. Those hashtags can include emojis or numbers, but spaces and special characters, like $ or % aren’t allowed. 2) Use no more than three hashtags in your actual caption and put the rest as a comment below your post to keep your captions cleaner. 3) Don’t use the same hashtags over and over again. Mix up your hashtags to get discovered by different people!
Lastly, use hashtags with the fewest posts in them. Anything below a million posts will get you discovered easier. To find out the number of posts, just type the keyword you’re looking to use in your search box (make sure you’re looking under the ‘tags’ tab) and you’ll see how many posts have been shared using that keyword. Personally, I often find keywords that have been 50,000 to 200,000 posts do best in terms of engagement.
That’s all for this month’s Transformation Thursday series! Happy Friday Eve!
