Transformation Thursday: May 2018
And just like that, I’m a week late on the halfway mark of 2018’s Transformation Thursday series, haha! In my defense, my back office wasn’t letting me save anything I was writing. Anyway, I’ve been sooo enjoying keeping an eye out for resources that will help serve you guys more. This month’s post is more blogger-focused so if you’re a new blogger or an aspiring one, you’ll definitely want to bookmark these links!
Article – Pitching to Brands (3 Minute Read)
How to Email Pitch to Brands as a Blogger: Do’s + Dont’s From a PR Perspective by Katherine Saviola McDermott – This girl. What can I say about this amazing woman?! I stumbled across her on Pinterest when I was looking for information on how to work with brands. Lo and behold, her pin was was at the top of my search results so not only did I save her pin, but I read her post right away. I say this because I tend to pin more and refer to them later on, but her content is that compelling as well as extremely valuable.
Not kidding when I say that I wish she showed up about five years ago when I first started my blogging journey. Trust me. I will read her entire blog from the first post to the most recent. Her perspective and the value she provides is that good!
Apps (Travel)
11 Travel Apps You Should Download Right Now by The Discoverer Blog
We can all use apps to make our lives easier, right? The apps recommended in this article were really great! I loved that I only knew of one app that was featured too. My favorite off of the list? PackPoint! Seriously. This girl who tends to overpack or pack the wrong things (I bought an $80 lightweight jacket on a cruise with Royal Caribbean in the ship’s gift shop because I thought I didn’t need to pack a heavier coat. I know, it was a smack-my-forehead moment.) Needless to say, I totally pinned this article to my travel board as I plan to be more adventurous in the future!
Blog Resources (Blog Planner & GDPR Compliance)
Blog planner by Designer Blogs – A fantastic 12-page resource to organize and plan your content if you like doing things the old school way: pen and paper.
GDPR – With the new European laws in place, check out this article if most of your customers/target audience is in Europe! It’s not a huge deal as articles have made this out to be, but it’s still good to be compliant in case your audience expands into Europe in the future.
Newsletter
The Newsette – If I remember correctly, I came across The Newsette on an ad on Instagram and subscribed pretty much right away. And if I’m being honest, I don’t really do that. And if I’m being even more honest, I don’t open a lot of newsletter type emails either. However, I’m really enjoying the content Daniella is bringing to my email inbox! She gives me just enough content that I’m not overwhelmed and that in itself actually makes me want to open her emails! Think of The Newsette as a cross between Glitter Guide and The Every Girl, but more condensed, more interesting content and a little less overwhelming.
And that’s all for this month’s Transformation Thursday series!
As always, you can DM me on my social media platforms or email me if you have any questions. I’m always open to serving you!
