Transformation Thursday: January 2017

Transformation Thursday- January 2017 | She Sweats Diamonds

Welcome to the first installment of Transformation Thursday! I’m always looking for resources to listen to, read or watch to improve my life. If you feel that there’s an area in your life you want to improve on, I hope at least one of the resources below will add value to your life.

Sharing is caring so consider Transformation Thursday as a series of a monthly edit of self-improvement goodness if you will!

Here are some resources in various formats that will add value to your life. Pick whichever format you prefer and let the transformation begin!

Article (2 Minute Read): Emotional Intelligence Tips: Five Ways to Better Manage Yourself by Paul Sohn – So? What’s your EQ? What’s EQ you ask? EQ is Emotional Intelligence. EI or EQ is “the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.” Paul gives you five tips on how you can improve/increase your self-awareness so I highly recommend this article if you’re seeking to learn how to express your emotions through discussion from an understanding viewpoint. Improve your EQ and you improve your communication skills. Check out Paul’s book Quarter-Life Calling: How to Find Your Sweet Spot in Your Twenties while you’re at it too!

Book (Short read): Beach Money by Jordan Adler – If you love network marketing or support friends who are in network marketing, this is a fantastic short read. This is also a great resource you’re looking to add another stream of income or better understand what one person goes through a building a non-traditional business on the side. If you’re against network marketing, I understand. However, if you give this book a chance, I promise you’ll see the industry from a different perspective!

Video (Length 3:27): Can We Auto-Correct Humanity? Social media and technology is not a bad thing. How much we let it control us and consume our time is when it’s bad. If you’re finding that you can’t get things done or that you don’t have “email hours” or specific times for when you check your social media, you will after watching this video! You’ll also learn how to be more present too. More on this topic with tomorrow’s post so stay tuned!

Podcast (Length: 1:13:33) – If you know me, you know I LOVE Lewis Howes’ School of Greatness podcast. Check out his interview with Co-founder of Quest Nutrition, Tom Bilyeu! Tom talks about life before Quest, the hiring philosophy he stands by, self-awareness and more. Definitely one of my favorite guests to date. Download the School of Greatness podcast on iTunes and I promise your commutes will never be the same! Don’t be surprised if my future podcast episode recommendations will come from SOGA as I listen to Lewis Howes about 90% of the time!

Product: Five Minute Journal – Like I said in a previous post, an attitude of gratitude is important. When you count your blessings, you focus on appreciation rather than expectation. For the last 1 1/2 years, I’ve been using the 5MJ and what a game-changer it’s been in my life! If you’re looking to become disciplined in something, I highly recommend starting with the 5MJ. You begin your day by writing down three things you’re thankful for, three things you need to do along with an affirmation. Before you retreat to your bed, you end the day by writing down three great things that happened during the day (that you had control over) and one thing you could improve on. And yep, you guessed it! It takes five minutes twice a day. Should’ve be too hard right?

What you’ll come to learn is that writing in the 5MJ will force you to find the good everyday. It’s such an awesome thing because don’t we all need to find the silver lining in every situation? I can’t believe I’m finishing up my third one next week!

If you’ve read, watched, listened to or used any of these resources, comment below and let me know what you think! I’m all ears so feel free to suggest any additional resources!

Note: I must give credit where credit is due. Big thanks to the Intelligent Change Inc. team (aka the Five Minute Journal guys) for inspiring me as I was thinking of a new series to introduce to my readers!
