Welcome to the second installment of Transformation Thursday! I’m always looking for resources to listen to, read or watch to improve my life in every area. If you feel that there’s an area in your life you want to improve on, I hope at least one of the resources below will add value to your life.
Sharing is caring so consider Transformation Thursday as a series of a monthly edit of self-improvement goodness if you will!
Here are some resources in various formats that will add value to your life. Pick whichever format you prefer and let the transformation begin!
Article (1 Minute Read): 7 Things That Happen To Your Body Just 20 Minutes After You Start Eating Healthy by Liz Moody of MindBodyGreen – Knowledge is not power. Applied knowledge is power. Only when you apply what you learn is when things in your life will start changing. However, you can’t take action if you don’t have the information. It’s like the saying, “Your parents can’t teach you what they don’t know.” That’s why it’s important to me to tell others when I learn something new.
Anyway, if you’re on a health journey like me, please understand one thing. Understanding how your body works is just as important as knowing what happens when you feed your body. If you have a tough time eating healthy, I think this article will help you change your mind on what your next meal will be! I have an interesting post I’ll be putting up soon regarding this topic!
Book (Short read): The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg – I’m a huge “why” girl. I always need to know why people do the things they do. My own actions almost always has a meaning behind them too. Since I am big on the “why” factor, I must say that Power of Habit is one of the most fascinating books I’ve read this year!
Ever drive home and wonder how you got there so fast? You don’t even remember exiting off the highway nor using any turn signals either. Why? The answer: Driving has become a habit engrained in you that it becomes second nature. Charles talks about how we do things out of habit. He also gives great examples from NFL football teams to how brushing our teeth began. Clue: Toothpaste was created based off of creating habits.
If you have some bad habits you want to break, you’ve got to understand why first. I’ve applied what I’ve learned and let me tell you, this book has changed my life in just a few short months!
Video (Length 15:54): How I Edit My Instagram Pictures & Plan My Feed – An old-ish video, but such a good one! If you’ve seen Marianna Hewitt’s Instagram, you can see how she carefully curates her gorgeous feed! The first nine photos of your feed determine if someone is going to follow you. If you’re looking to grow your business on social media, you’ve got to have a feed that’s pleasing to the eye.
Whether you’re looking to clean up your feed or are just starting out a new account, check out her Instagram tutorial! Learn and apply what she teaches to your feed and watch the transformation of your own brand/voice!
I love how kind she is to share her secrets with her readers. I’m definitely learning so much from her and can’t wait to apply more of her techniques to my own social media feeds!
Podcast (Length: 1:13:33) – As I said before, Lewis Howes’ School of Greatness podcast is my absolute favorite! This month, get inspired by checking out his interview with Sara Blakely, Spanx Founder and CEO from a few months ago. If you’re a budding entrepreneur, you know how hard it is to be a business owner. Sara talks about her journey from the beginning stages to where she’s at now. She also offers sound advice leaders in any industry needs to listen to. Listening to her empowered me to keep hustling!
Download the School of Greatness podcast on iTunes and I promise your commutes will never be the same! More recommendations from SOGA in the future!
Product (cookbook): Eat Better Not Less by Nadia Damuso – I’ve been following Nadia on her Instagram for the last two years. Since I’m changing my eating habits during the week, I’m definitely ordering her hardcover cookbook. Can you believe this beautiful cookbook is under $20?! Yeah, it’ll definitely be displayed on my kitchen counter!
