The key to success is to start before you are ready. —Marie Forleo
I can’t believe this is the fourth post of SSD’s Transformation Thursday series! Can you believe May will be here next week?! It’s so crazy how fast this year is going!
I’m going to keep mixing it up for each month’s self-improvement resources so I hope you enjoy today’s content!

Choose whichever format you resonate with most and let’s keep growing together!
Article (2 Minute Read)
How to Lose Weight, Based on Your Personality Type Hallie Gould of Byrdie – When I came across this old article, I thought it was quite interesting. I’m the “I love eating healthy, but exercise sucks” personality. Hey, I love health, but I’m not a health nut.
I’m probably going to get a Fitbit like Hallie suggested because when I was working out last year, I tracked my progress through an app. I was definitely more consistent when I used an app. We can all use self-improvement when it comes to health so let me know your plan of action! Which personality are you?
Book (Mid-length read)
#AskGaryVee: One Entrepreneur’s Take on Leadership, Social Media, and Self-Awareness – I’m totally on the late train with this read (Gary‘s book dropped last year), but let me tell you, if you don’t sugarcoat and don’t like BS, this is your book and he’s your man!
I just finished his audio book on Audible this week and it was quite interesting! If you feel like you can’t get past his colorful language, then this book is not for you. If you can get past it, you’ll find gold nuggets, get a glimpse of who he is and learn about his take on social media. Let me know if you want a book review!
Video (YouTube Channel)
Lydia Elise Millen – First of all, let me preface by saying that I do NOT consider myself a YouTuber or YouTube viewer. However, I’ve grown to love this platform because of Lydia Millen, blogger of Lydia Elise Millen. I’ve been following her on Instagram for a while now and decided to migrate over to her channel. I’ve been watching her videos for the last few weeks and I must say that I adore her so much. I’m addicted to her videos now!
If you’re looking to start your own YouTube channel, she’s a great example to follow in terms of fashion/style content. I love her marketing without “marketing” vibe and she’s just a great person overall. I love how she’s selling, but without pushing you, and that’s something I truly love in a blogger/influencer! If you’re looking for some style inspiration, up your fashion transformation or are thinking of adding some key luxury pieces to your closet, she’s your girl!
Don’t let her success, #ClosetGoals, and travels stop you from watching her. You may think that people who “have it all” are not relatable, but seriously, don’t let any of these barriers stop you. I find her very relatable (her fiancé Ali is too). They’re just like you and me, but with more airline miles and stuff, haha! Lydia treats her readers with love and respect and she’s just a fresh breath of air in blogging world in general!
Message (Length: 34:03)
The Principle of Rest – Do you ever feel guilty when you’re resting? Like you should be doing something instead of relaxing? Me too. Until two Sundays ago. My world was rocked when Pastor Morris talked about resting not because we need to, but because we have to. I don’t feel guilty when I’m trying to rest anymore. If I want to nap, I’m going to nap. If I want me time, I’m scheduling in me time. And you know what? Just last week, for the first time in years, I shut off the whole world and took a bubble bath while listening to my books on Audible.
If you have a hard time resting, trust me, you’re going to want to listen/watch this message. Even if you’re not a believer, Pastor Morris gives great points on why you should set time aside to rest. Apply this to your life and just watch how positive your transformation will be to you and those around you!
Product (Stock Photography)
SC Stockshop – I’ve been following Shay for YEARS now and have used her work on my old blogs and social media. It’s been amazing watching her and her little shop grow. If you’re looking for beautiful, feminine stock photography for your blog, website or social media platforms, she’s your girl! Her new site launched last year and you can shop by subject or by color! She just dropped images for stationary designers earlier this week!
If you sign up for her newsletter, you’ll receive a free image at the beginning of each month and can use it however you’d like. If it says anything, I’ve been on her newsletter for a few years now and it’s definitely not easy to stay on someone’s email newsletter with the whole world advertising at you.
That’s it for this month’s Transformation Thursday series!
Happy Friday Eve!
