Since we’re past Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, I wanted to take some time to talk with you about an even more important event: Giving Tuesday 2019.
A few years ago, I realized that there are two ways to help others. 1) You can donate your time or 2) gift money. And what I’ve noticed is that people do more of the latter half because it’s obviously a bit easier.
No matter how much or how little, everyone has money. Any dollar amount chosen still makes one feels good to know they’ve contributed.
However, I’m sure you can agree with me that it’s the gift of time that’s most valuable.
When you give your time, you make others feel loved, cherished, and remembered.
And I’m pretty sure it’s more meaningful than receiving money most times.
With that said, I wanted to share with you ideas on ways you give back with your time this holiday season.
Here are my favorite charities below:
NORTH TEXAS FOOD BANK
This is an absolute no-brainer. I chose NTFB, but you can find your local food bank and donate money, food or most importantly, your time.
When I volunteered several years ago, I had an absolute blast meeting new people while competing with my fellow volunteers on who can pack boxes the fastest. This picture of my friends and I from my personal Instagram account still makes me smile!
CHILDREN’S HUNGER FUND
One of my favorite and long-time charities is Children’s Hunger Fund. USANA, my favorite supplement brand has partnered with CHF for years.
You can donate any amount you wish or purchase a bottle of Usanimals for children around the world who are malnourished. Or if you prefer, you can order a monthly subscription box where every bottle you donate through the Usanimals Donation Program, USANA will donate two more. This organization is very near and dear to my heart.
GENESIS WOMEN’S SHELTER
I discovered the GWS a few years ago at an event my friend, Dale, founder of Savvy Sleepers, hosted. Needless to say, it really touched me so if you’re in the Dallas area and want to find a place to donate your time to, I’d reach out to them!
RAINFOREST ALLIANCE
As you know, the focus on taking action for our planet and the environment has increased. Aside from raising awareness and/or funds, I implore to volunteer with your local city when they host a river/highway clean up. It’ll open your eyes to see how much we trash this beautiful planet. And hopefully, giving your time to clean up our planet will steer you to make some additional lifestyle changes too!
I’ve worked with Keep America Beautiful affiliates in the past so if you want to start somewhere, start with them!
PROJECT BEAUTY SHARE
This organization provides personal hygiene and beauty products to other for-purpose organizations who serve women and families overcoming abuse, addiction, homelessness, and poverty. All you have to do is donate a dollar amount or donate makeup shampoos, lotions, soaps, fragrances, etc. to help women get back on their feet.
I can’t wait to share with you what I’ll be doing with Project Beauty Share and the Erno Laszlo team soon!
In the meantime, here’s what you can do with the #HaulidayDonation initiative!
I know when some people hear “giving of your time”, they think the time frame is a lot. And that’s just not true.
In the hours we’ve been graciously blessed with, all it takes is 1-2 hours a month or even donating a huge chunk of one Saturday on a quarterly basis. That’s it.
If you’ve been thinking about donating your time, stop thinking about it and remember this:
The most valuable thing you can give to others is your time. Click To TweetAnd know that if you’re ever put in a position where you need help, you’ll get back what you gave.
What are your favorite charities to give back on Giving Tuesday 2019/every holiday season?
