“Every summer, like the roses, childhood returns.” — Marty Rubin
Like the quote I chose for this article, what I love most about summer is that it brings me back to my childhood.
Summer was full of fun, but most of all it felt so long. As an adult now, summers disappear like the blink of an eye.
The rainbows that appear after a summer rain and the stocking of my favorite once-a-year peonies are some of my favorite things to experience.
As today marks the first official day of summer, I wanted to celebrate this new season and share a summer lifestyle mood board I put together with my own photos.
One // I splurged on these blush pink slides in early spring for this summer. However, when my moving plans were delayed, I ended up packing them away in storage. I can’t help, but share them with you because when I hear the word, ‘slides,’ I also hear ‘pool.’ You’re welcome.
Two // This photograph I took in Glassboro, New Jersey several years ago definitely reminds me of summer. It was my first time picking blueberries. We had a friendly competition to see who could fill up the carton with the most. Rachel and I ended up winning which was surprising because it didn’t feel as heavy. We made blueberry pancakes when we got home and no syrup was needed. They were that sweet!
Three // If there is one thing I look forward to in the summer, it’s a summer fragrance. I found Peony & Blush Suede many years ago. Since then, I’ve learned that I can’t wear fragrances due to mosquitoes being extra attracted to me. So I just settle for candles in my home instead. I will say this photo is my favorite shot of my favorite summer fragrance and flowers. I’m so proud of it!
Four // While peonies are my favorite summer flowers, the season for them is so short. When they’re out of season, I replace them with hydrangeas. My favorites? Pure white and bright blue. These colors set the tone and get me excited for 4th of July for sure!
Five // This photo of mine brings me back to one of my favorite places in earth: Santorini, Greece. My best friends and I got a chance to see Santorini back during pre-social media days on our European cruise. While I was sad the church dome wasn’t painted the infamous blue, I’m so glad it was white. It makes my photo look even more serene.
Six // I just got this Romans study book and it is beautiful. My goal is to do deeper studies of the Bible so I’m really looking forward to getting to know God even more this summer!
Seven // I cannot get enough of Dior Beauty! After doing a deep beauty purge for my move, I replaced half of my makeup with Dior including this pretty pink lip gloss.
Eight // While I don’t think I could ever visit New York City again due to the rising crime, I have to say that I loved NYC. A dream no longer viable or even desirable, the NYC I once knew will always remain in my heart. And this photo I took is it.
Nine // A bouquet of my favorite summer flowers: peonies. The only pop of color I’ll ever need in my home during the summer is the pink of peonies.
I used to despise summer, but now, I’ve fully embraced this season. Well, maybe not the mosquitos though, ha!
Tell me, what do you love most about the summer?
