There are no rules when it comes to makeup! —Kevyn Aucoin

When it comes to summer makeup, I’m a minimalist. Since it’s so hot here in Texas, any makeup I put on barely stands a chance.

I don’t even use a tinted sunscreen. I know, it’s bad.

During these hot days, I go for a facial sunscreen, do my eye makeup, add some color to my cheeks and lips and call it a day.

Why? Because I don’t glisten like a little fairy (I blame Emily Young for this reference, ha!), I sweat like an exhausted NBA player playing in overtime with seconds left on the clock to win the game.

Summer Edition: What's in My Makeup Bag - Chantecaille - Natasha Denona Mini Palette - Chanel Beauty - Merit Beauty - She Sweats Diamonds - Huong Vo

That said, for this fun article, I wanted to share what’s in my very minimal summer makeup bag!

MERIT PERFECTING COMPLEXION STICK

I am a huge fan of the quick “swipe” application process for my summer makeup. After trying various liquid under eye concealers over the years, the stick version is my favorite style to use!

Warning though, like many users have said, the product does break off. Honestly, I still bought it even after reading the reviews regarding quality control just because I was interested in trying it. I still think it’s worth being in my summer beauty bag.

The shade I use is Dune.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS EYEBROW PENCIL

I’ve been using this eyebrow pencil for nearly a decade and I have no plans on stopping. Even though one pencil lasts a long time for me, when there’s a sale, I always buy an extra to have backups.

I use the shade Granite.

CHANEL RETRACTABLE DUAL-ENDED EYESHADOW BRUSH

This dual-ended eyeshadow brush was an accidental find last month and boy, was it a GREAT find! I loved it so much, I bought a second to keep in my travel makeup bag so I never have to forget it.

The style I have is the N°200 not the N°105.

NATASHA DENONA MINI EYE PALETTE

While I’ve known about Natasha Denona for awhile, I have not purchased anything from her brand until I recently hit pan on one of my favorite shades of a discontinued (for now) beauty brand.

Even though her colors and swatches looked beautiful online, I still wanted to go into a store and swatch them to see the textures myself and the colors on my own skin tone. I was pleasantly surprised on the variety she has of her mini palettes.

The one I ended up going with is called the neutral (are we surprised?) My Mini Dream palette.

KAT VON D TATTOO WATERPROOF LIQUID EYELINER

I’ve done cat eye makeup with liquid eyeliner for over 20 years and I’m pretty sure I won’t ever stop.

It’s my go-to signature look and I’m okay with that, ha! Personally, I’ve tried a lot of eye liners over the years. And the pen version is my favorite as it’s the easiest to control. I get precise results in seconds.

The shade I use is Trooper Black.

MAKEUP BY MARIO ULTRA SUEDE SCULPTING LIP PENCIL

I hadn’t worn lip liner in a long time until I came across Mario’s lip pencils! This is one has go to be my favorite neutral pink lip pencils! For me, the color lasts longer than other lip pencils I’ve tried. Additionally, each pencil comes with its own sharpener.

I use the shade, Johnny, which is a muted rose pink.

ELEVATE BEAUTY LIQUID LIPSTICK

As soon as Amanda Ensing launched her beauty brand a few years ago, I made sure to support this God-fearing, America-loving business woman! And once I saw that her second launch consisted of more liquid lipsticks, but in pinks, I knew it was over.

Her formula wears so well on my lips and I can attest that it lasts a lot longer than I expected even after eating and drinking! I love it SO much that I’m definitely buying another for my travel makeup bag.

While I cannot link this liquid lipstick below, you can purchase it from the link above. I put my second favorite liquid lipstick below in case you’re interested as well.

The shade I use the most and fell in love with is Grace.

CHANTECAILLE GOLD ILLUMINATING POWDER

I’m a huge sucker for packaging so once I saw this highlighter, I hit ‘Add to Cart’ so fast, ha!

While it is pricey, I was also thinking I can reuse this as a compact in the future when I’m finished with the product. It’s small enough to fit in an evening clutch so that in itself is also another win!

The only color available for now is called Precious Gold.

Even though not everything I use is in the picture I photographed above, I still wanted to share what’s really in my makeup bag this summer.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this fun article as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it!
