Glow is the essence of beauty. —Estee Lauder
Throughout quarantine, I’ve made it a point to use beauty products I’ve accumulated from purchases and PR packages over time before making too many new purchases. My goal is to use every last drop as to not waste product/money while taking note of what I tend to reach for before I settling on final seasonal beauty edits (more on this later).
Doing this has helped me discover what brands I absolutely love and what kind of products I’m willing to try.
That said, the Sephora Holiday Sale is here!
In today’s article, I’ll be breaking down my favorite products, share some beauty holy grails I’m restocking on, and talk about new products I want to try/am trying out.
Note, this article won’t be lengthy as usual since I’m not really going anywhere, but I thought it’d be fun to write since beauty is one of my escapes from life!
My Favorite Beauty Products
TATCHA Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35
This is THE best sunscreen ever!!! It’s pricey, but there’s no white cast. My makeup goes on matte afterwards, just the way I like it. If you have combo/oily skin like I do, get this sunscreen. The price is worth it. This is easily in the top three best sunscreens I’ve ever used!
I tried this sunscreen last summer on a very hot trip to Philly to see my best friend and it exceeded my expectations. It held up so well in the heat. I love how smooth it glides on! If you prefer a lower price point sunscreen, try this one.
ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Perfect Brow Pencil
I’ve been using this pencil for years and I’ll never stop. It’s that good!
TOO FACED Melted Matte Long Wear Liquid Lipstick
My holy grail go-to lipstick all year round! It’s not drying and stays put as I eat and drink throughout the day. I wear the shade Sell Out all-year long and mix it with Cool Girl for fall.
What I’m Restocking On
SKINCARE
This cleanser was the first I used that did NOT strip my skin of its oils and leave that dry, tight feeling. And I’ve used a lot of gel cleansers so I’d say this is definitely in my top three!
THE ORDINARY 100% Plant-Derived Squalane
This squalane oil is the first product that does NOT leave an oily residue. Just a few drops is enough for my entire face and it’s incredibly affordable! And I mean under $10-incredibly-affordable.
MAKEUP
SEPHORA COLLECTION Colorful Wink-It Felt Liner Waterproof
If you’ve been around SSD long enough, you know this is my go-to (affordable) eyeliner. My current eyeliner pen is starting to dry out from a lot of recent usage because #VideoCalls for my day job so it’s time to stock up!
TOWER 28 ShineOn Jelly Lip Gloss
Tower 28 is a new-to-me clean makeup brand I recently discovered. I got it in the XOXO shade and used it all throughout the summer. Now that I’m at the bottom of the tube, I’m restocking because I love the natural flush of pink it gives. I just glide it on right before my video meetings to look a bit more put together!
What I’m Trying For the First Time/Want to Try
SKINCARE
I received a sample of this oil a few years ago as a recommendation from a beauty sales associate. She had told me a story of her co-worker using it after she had spilled hot tea on her hands and how fast it healed after using this oil. I kept my tiny sample in my beauty drawer for an emergency and the time came over the summer. The back of my hand had developed a huge rash from washing my hands so much. Within two days, my rash disappeared! If you want to try the Renewal Oil Mini, it’s also part of the sale!
MAKEUP
LAURA MERCIER Translucent Loose Setting Powder
I heard SO much about this setting powder so I think I’m going to try it in the small size first to see what the hype is about. If you’ve tried this product or their honey setting powder, let me know your thoughts please!
TOWER28 BeachPlease Tinted Lip + Cheek Balm
One of my goals is to try and experiment with more effortless makeup looks. And when we get to travel again, why not get a 2-in-1 clean makeup product?
DIOR BACKSTAGE Glow Face Palette
As a huge fan of Dior Beauty, I’d love to play with this palette to add warmth to my skin during the colder months.
HAIR
IGK Offline 3-Minute Hydration Hair Mask
A few weeks ago, I asked my friend, Rachel, about the Gisou face mask since I’m looking for ways to pamper my hair more. She actually recommended this product to me and after reading a handful of reviews, it’s now sitting in my cart ready to be purchased on a discount because of the Sephora Holiday Sale, ha!
MOROCCANOIL Dry Shampoo Dark Tones
Just because I work from home doesn’t mean I don’t need dry shampoo from time to time. Since I have dark hair, I thought I’d try this hair product. I heard so much about this haircare brand too so let’s see if it’s worth the hype!
