Peachy Keen :: Silk Dress Two Ways Pt. II

Since I showed you a more casual way to style a silk tank dress last week, it’s obvious that this week’s outfit is going to be a dressier look, ha!

As I was thinking of how to style this silk dress, I cringed at the thought of the sweltering heat we’re still experiencing. I’m not going to lie. I feel like I’m terrible at styling looks for summer. Maybe it’s because I hate summer or the fact that I’m not a fan of off-the-shoulder tops. Whatever it is, I’m usually living in a nice top and shorts just to survive on weekends.

To me, it is hard to dress and look chic especially during the hot summer months. For this post, I wanted to go for a look that can be worn to dinner with friends or a special evening event. I went for white accents to make the outfit stand out as well as give it a summery feel. I purposely styled it with a silk blazer to stay warm while indoors, but also pulled out comfy caged heels to keep the summer theme should the blazer be taken off.

In case you’re wondering, my heels are from Banana Republic. I’m a sneakers and flats girl through and through, but these shoes are very comfortable, so much that I lasted in them all day at my friend’s wedding a few years ago. I got them two years ago so if you’re hunting for this exact pair on Poshmark or eBay, it’s called Laney Lace-Up Sandal. 

I was back at Clotheshorse Anonymous this past weekend and found some more awesome goodies! A beautiful cotton dress came home with me along with this gorgeous jacket (neutrals for the win!). I’ll be going back again in the coming weeks to find pieces (yep, Clotheshorse Anonymous also has athletic wear) for an athleisure look (first of its kind for the blog). My love for athletic wear goes deep, haha!  

I can’t believe August is approaching, but that only means fall is getting that much closer! For this chick, I’m living in shorts, tees, sandals, drinking iced tea, iced coffee and eating ice cream to survive summer, lol!
