Hey guys! It’s been one heck of a week last week! From a whirlwind of a work week to trying to pack with a bad back, I made it to NYC and back in one piece! I was planning on posting last week, but decided to take a break to get rested, re-energized and re-inspired for the fall season!
Now that I’m back to posting on the regular, I wanted to share with you my newest outfit post featuring this fun Richard Chai dress I found at Clotheshorse Anonymous! When I came across this dress, it was one of those weird fashion moments where I asked myself a series of questions: “Okay, this is not normal. What’s with the lines?” “Is this going to look better on me than the hanger?” and “What are these straps hanging down?” to “Interesting! I love that this dress is different than what I have in my closet!” when I tried it on, lol!
Not going to lie. Even after trying it on, I was leery, but I took it home with me anyway. I hung it on my door (this is what I do with a lot of my clothes I don’t know how to style just yet) to see what inspiration would transpire from it. I ended up walking by it for a full two weeks before I chose to “keep it simple” and go for a night out with the girls/fancy dinner look.
Anyway, I decided to take this dress with me to shoot in New York and was I glad I did! I shot this look early on Sunday morning. So early that hardly anyone was around! It was so nice strolling around with the girls, figuring out which backdrops to use. The original plan was to use a tan-ish backdrop with lots of texture (think of those amazing old churches with all the architectural details you see in New York), but we couldn’t find a building near us that fit the bill. Too bad I can’t fly.
It was extremely important to me to not do my shoot in front of Freedom Tower or the 9/11 Memorial so we decided to settle for a sidewalk shot across the street right next to a shopping mall.
I love how this Richard Chai dress looks against the city skyline and think these shots turned out great!
What do you think?
Stay tuned! LOTS of fun projects and posts (including a three-part series of my NYC trip) are coming your way!
