“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” ― Galatians 5:1
The 4th of July is coming up and it’s one of my favorite holidays of the year because I love America so much.
And freedom means so much more to me these last few years than ever before.
Even though I don’t share my personal style much these days, I wanted to put together some 4th of July outfit ideas for you.
However, as I prefer wearing neutrals, I wanted to share neutral 4th of July outfit ideas instead.
NEUTRAL 4TH OF JULY OUTFITS IDEAS
I thought that since a lot of people will be wearing the great red, white, and blue, I figured I’d go the opposite and share with you Independent Day outfits with pops of red.
FEMININE NEUTRAL 4TH OF JULY OUTFIT
This is a fun 4th of July outfit if you’re going to a fireworks show. A comfortable, non-fussy look with pops of red.
WHITE DRESS WITH BOW SHOULDER STRAPS
If you want a feminine 4th of July look, this dress with bow shoulder straps is just it. The smocked bodice adds comfort while the eyelet bow straps add extra feminine vibes. If you want an option to stay cool in, I have my eye on this white linen dress with bow straps from Dissh too!
RED FLORAL SCARF
If where you live gets cool at night, this red floral scarf is big enough so you can tie it over your shoulders.
BROWN LEATHER SANDALS
For summer outdoor activities, it’s always most comfortable in flat shoes. Personally, I’d like to invest in the Hermès Oran sandals. However, these brown sandals are at a much more affordable price point in the same exact style.
RAFFIA CROSSBODY BAG
I’m not a fan of the large woven summer bags. This small crossbody is unfussy and easy to keep your hands free.
GOLD HOOP EARRINGS
Classic earrings for summer will always be gold hoop earrings. These 14K Sophie hoops are from a small, woman-owned business too!
TORTOISE CAT EYE SUNGLASSES
A pair of tortoise sunglasses will always be a classic summer color. Add in the cat eye shape for a feminine look.
RED LIP GLOSS
For a bold makeup look, this bright red lip gloss will do the trick. Just keep the rest of your makeup light and neutral if you don’t want a full glam look, especially in the heat.
DRESSY NEUTRAL 4TH OF JULY OUTFIT
For a dressy preppy 4th of July look, this outfit is perfect if you’re going to an indoor/outdoor event. Come to think of it, this entire look is great for a 4th of July work event if you have one to attend!
BLUE SHIRT DRESS
This blue linen shirt dress has thin stripes perfect for the holiday and all summer long. The long sleeves are perfect to keep you warm while you’re indoors, while the fabric keeps you cool outdoors. Don’t mind the price because you’ll forget all about it after wearing it all summer. Remember: cost divided by times per wear!
BROWN LEATHER BELT WITH GOLD BUCKLE
You can forgo a belt if you want a loose look with your dress. However, for me, I prefer a silhouette with some shape. This leather belt is such a classic to have in your wardrobe!
CREAM ESPADRILLES
I’m not a fan of sky-high heels so these espadrilles are perfect for some height without the pain!
RAFFIA TOTE BAG
If you’re one to carry all the essentials, this laptop-friendly raffia tote is the perfect bag to hold everything.
DOUBLE PEARL EARRINGS / GOLD PEARL NECKLACE
These double pearl earrings are different yet so classic. I got them a few years ago and still love them! They make me feel so classy and feminine! I also just got this dainty gold and pearl necklace and it’s so pretty!
BROWN AVIATOR SUNGLASSES
Even if you won’t be outside much (due to mosquitoes or the heat), these sunglasses still complete the look whether on your head or in the opening neckline of your dress.
RED LIQUID LIPSTICK
For a semi-bold look, this red liquid lipstick will do the trick. Although I haven’t tried it to know its lasting power, it’s a real Americana red, that’s for sure!
CASUAL NEUTRAL 4TH OF JULY OUTFIT
I still think this is a very comfortable super neutral 4th of July outfit if you forgo the red lips. This look is one I’d pick out of all three outfits as it reflects more of my personal style at the moment.
BLUE AND WHITE STRIPED BUTTON DOWN
This 100% cotton blue and white shirt is such a classic to have for summer in general. Just roll up the sleeves, unbutton and tie the bottom half for a cool (literally!) look.
WHITE DENIM SKIRT
This white denim skirt is great to stay cool in. However, I personally prefer these white denim shorts for summer!
WHITE LEATHER SNEAKERS
I’ve owned these white leather sneakers for a few summers now. I love that they are the sleekest white sneakers I could find without a huge logo on them.
After taking them for many spins, these are good for weekend errands and going to and from the airport. However, I will say these are not sneakers for long walks or vacations.
BLACK WOVEN CROSSBODY BAG
I’ve been a Rebecca Minkoff fan for over a decade (still have and use my Avery crossbody). When I saw this bag, I thought it was a perfect summer bag to recommend for neutral lovers. My guess is that it’s big enough to hold your phone, lip gloss, wallet, keys, and a few other small items.
CRYSTAL STAR EARRINGS
I own some of Jennifer Behr bobby pins so I instantly thought of these earrings. How sparkly and patriotic!
DARK GREY CAT EYE SUNGLASSES
Name another style and color combination in a pair of sunglasses perfect for this look. I’ll wait.
RED LIQUID LIPSTICK / RED LIP OIL
Depending on your level of comfort, you can go for this red liquid lipstick for a bold lip. Or you can go for this highly-rated cherry red lip oil for a glossy look!
I hope you were able to pull some inspiration from these collages for your neutral 4th of July outfit! If you noticed, the red lip products I picked are optional. You can go with whatever you’re most comfortable with wearing. Have fun re-creating these looks if you already have these pieces in your closet!
