“Music is music, ultimately. If it makes you feel good, cool.” —Prince
Hey hey, loves! It’s short story time! Stay with me on this story though because it’s a good, albeit a short one, ha!
So, I got in a good workout with some friends with a new church friend, Reidland at Body Mountain on Monday evening after work.
It was so funny because I had just met him on Sunday after services and he was like, “You guys want to come and get a workout in tomorrow evening?”
Not many people I meet propose something like that right off the bat so I thought it was kind of him to offer.
Honestly, I was nervous because I have been facing anxiety and dealing with my health struggles so I said, “Maybe, we’ll see. I’m pretty sure I can go, just let me check my calendar.”
On the inside, I was worried about how I’d perform because I hadn’t done a full workout for about a month and about nine months before that. “Would I injure myself again?” “Who’s going to be there?” “If you do go and get a workout, don’t push yourself too hard,” I thought. “Heal, shoulder! Heal!”
Obviously there was more thoughts that ran through my mind, but those were at the top.
Anyway, it was funny because when we walked into his gym, Reidland said, “You showed up!”
We were like, “Um, do people not?” He said that most people say they will and they don’t, especially on a Monday night, ha! His class was a weighted cardio workout (probably the only kind of cardio-related workout I like aside from dance, lol) with two circuits. He wasn’t kidding when he said we would sweat.
How did I do you ask?
Well, since you’re reading this post, it means I survived the workout! I’m just thankful that my quads aren’t writing this blog post, haha!
I was SO surprised at how I was able to keep up. On top of that, I did all of the sets without any modification! I know. Someone stop the presses!
After not working out for what feels like ages, I feel like I’m on cloud nine!
I’m so proud of myself that I decided I needed to get back in the workout game and finish the year strong. So, for today’s #WellnessWednesday post, I wanted to share with you my upbeat workout play list!
You may find that my taste in music is basic, but I wanted my workout playlist to be very energetic. I included songs that were great for walking/running and fire me up to finish my circuits. I totally added songs that reminded me of the good times and encourage me with positive lyrics.
Check out my Spotify playlist below!
Over time, I’ll keep adding to my playlist so keep checking back if you like my taste in music! Are there any artists you haven’t heard of yet?
Tell me, what’s on your workout playlist?
I want to discover new artists, so let me know in the comments!

October 31, 2017Thanks, love! It’s okay!!! It happened a few days before Thanksgiving last year and I only opened up to it on the blog this year…thanks, love! I appreciate your prayers and support. I really started working out again consistently like last week. It’s a total mindset thing.
