Even with 2020 throwing off nearly all of our plans for the new year, one thing’s for sure: we have been given a lot of time to reflect and readjust our focus for the future.
That said, I’ve been continuing to make plans for the direction of She Sweats Diamonds. Everything from branding to the kind of content I want to create for you is currently being thought out and I’m so excited, but I’ll save that for a later post.
Let’s catch up!
AS OF LATE, I’VE BEEN…
WATCHING
Even with the extra time we’ve been having at home, I have not been binging much of anything. However, when shelter-in-place was announced here in Dallas, I took it back to the holidays and watched a few Christmas movies. Christmas is my favorite time of the year so I decided to combat my anxiety with a few classic favorites.
I’ve also been watching Guy’s Grocery Games, a lot of Frasier reruns (again) along with some older seasons of The Simpsons since I have both of those shows on DVD.
I will say I’m intrigued with watching Tiger King with all of the posts I’ve been seeing, but a part of me is scared I’ll lose some brain cells.
READING
Before everything went down, I was reading China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan. It’s so funny too, haha!
And right now, I’m reading The Age of Sustainable Development by Jeffrey D. Sachs (more on this one later) and am in the middle of The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer with my small group. Don’t worry, we’re meeting via Zoom.
PLAYING
I’m still playing Homescapes here and there, but that’s it for games/board games. Is that bad?
EATING/DRINKING
As of late, I’ve been cooking new dishes and baking a ton. And if you know me, I hardly ever bake so if you’re around me while I’m doing it, consider yourself lucky, ha!
In all seriousness, I’ve made various salads, berry smoothies, some enchiladas, and healthy banana bread so far. I’ve also stolen recipes from a few other bloggers I follow like sheet nachos from Rach Parcell, healthy dinner recipes from Caitlin Covington, and have screen shot so many good recipes people are sharing on their Instagram stories. Don’t worry, I’ll be sharing the best of quarantine recipes I’ve made sometime in the next few weeks.
Tonight’s dish will be something with zucchini noodles, but I haven’t decided what yet though.
WEARING
Since I’m not going anywhere anytime soon, hoodies and leggings is the name of my game here. I mean, my oversized hoodie has paid for itself already!
BUYING
The last thing I purchased for myself was Summer Fridays Super Amino Cleanser and their tube key several weeks ago. And I have no plans on making any other purchases until life returns back to normal, whatever that may look like, of course.
LISTENING
I haven’t listened to any music nor podcasts as of late. Now that I think about it, I’m going to blast some music this weekend as I put up items on my Poshmark account.
PLANNING
To be honest, 2020 thwarted my goals so I have nothing planned except to push harder on my branding and learn new skills in my day-to-day life.
LOOKING FOR
Although I pulled back the reigns on any kind of spending, I’ve learned during this time in self-isolation that high-quality loungewear is essential. After this is over, I can say I’m 100% investing in high-quality loungewear, sweats, and comfy clothing.
LOOKING FORWARD TO
Two things: A new sense of freedom when that time comes and summer. I’m thankful for my blessings, but I’m even more thankful now that summer is coming. This could possibly be the best summer everyone is going to have.
LOVING
My leggings, comfy oversized hoodie, and time off of work to finish/do what I’ve always wanted to do.
THINKING ABOUT
As of late, I’ve been thinking about how everything is going to be different from here on out. The way we operate businesses/work will be different, just how life overall is going to be different.
HATING
How people still lack compassion, even in the middle of a pandemic. It blows my mind, but at the same time, I’m not surprised either. Remember, everyone is battling something behind the scenes no one knows about, so be kind. What you give out is what you will get back in life tenfold.
SLACKING ON
As crazy as this sounds, I’ve been doing well in this area, nothing really important I’m actually slacking on.
STRUGGLING WITH
Water intake is still improving and sleep isn’t great, but getting better. What I’m truly struggling with is the pressure to be super productive especially with the extra time I have on my hands. Do any of you feel this way?
That’s the latest update with me! No matter where you are in the world, let’s catch up with each other!
Rachel
April 8, 2020Thank you for always being open and honest with us. I know times are hard for everyone, but I am glad to see you are counting your blessings and are healthy as well. You are always an inspiration! Yesterday I wrote a list of things that were bothering me and on the other side I wrote the blessing to combat the other negative side. It helped because it allowed me to be upset and also to help me cover over it with God’s happiness. I do look forward to freedom and health in the world and figuring out what will come next. I just have to take it one emotion at a time these days.

April 9, 2020I appreciate and thank you for your well wishes, Rach. That’s a great idea! I love that you’re writing down both positive and negative feelings and that you’re allowing yourself to feel your emotions because that’s important. Do you feel better now? I look forward to freedom and good health in the world again too.
