Have you ever looked back and wondered what happened to your dreams? Like how you ended up in a cubicle (or like me, a windowless office) or doing something you never thought you’d be doing and wondered what happened that led you to a different path?
I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately myself and wondered how I ended up on the path I’m currently on.
I’ve been working on breaking free and making my dreams happen these last few years. And to be honest, I didn’t give it 200%, 80% maybe, but not 200%. This year? If I’m honest, I’m giving it 90-95%. Why more? Because of several reasons:
-
I believed in who God says I am and who I deem myself to be.
When I started believing in myself, that was when I started to do more of what I love. It was like, “Yeah! I am ______! And I can do ______! Let’s go!” Sometimes I think God was like, “Finally! I told you so!” LOL!
-
I stopped caring about what other people think.
When I realized that people are really worried about their own lives (I mean, we’re all a little self-absorbed, aren’t we?), I stopped caring about the opinions of others and started taking action.
-
My mindset shifted.
Once I stepped into who I was called to be and stopping caring what other people thought, my mindset shifted. I began to focus on how my content could serve others and I started dreaming big. I haven’t dreamed so big where it scares me yet, but I know I’ll get there before the end of the year for sure! I’m probably the happiest blogger to ever exist because of my shift in my mindset!
Aside from the fact that going after my dreams is scary, I’m even more excited that I’ve started taking more control of my life this year.
You know, most people are afraid of failure. For me, it’s fear of success and not knowing what to do with it essentially. I then learned over the last ten months that…Success becomes less intimidating when what you want outweighs what you don't want. Click To Tweet
The key is to take action everyday. The big picture isn’t so scary when you take baby steps. If you want to make things happen, just follow these three steps below. Watch how the universe conspires to make things happen once you start taking action!
-
Start somewhere and then make a plan.
You read that right because there is not one right way to start making things happen. You just start somewhere and once you begin to figure it out, then you can make your plan. Once you take action, reevaluate and adjust it as you go!

Ask for help.
Many successful leaders out there are also mentors. You’d be surprised when you ask for help that someone is more than happy to help you in whatever way you need it. The worst that can happen is you get a ‘no’ for an answer, which you won’t die from by the way. However, you have to be the one who reaches out first. Whether it’s to guide you, lift you up, offer you support, advice and/or feedback, someone is always glad to help you. Don’t be afraid to reach out to those who are successful (whom you may also be admiring from a distance) and ask!
My advice on this is that if you’re seeking a well-known and busy leader to make sure you’re adding value to them first before you ask for help. They need to know you’re not just in it for yourself. Get what I mean? People first. Business second.

Take action everyday.
Dreams don’t happen overnight. For things to start happening, start taking consistent action in small steps every single day. Before you go to bed, make sure you do one thing to move towards your dreams! Seeing your dreams come true starts with one baby step. Please realize that it’s okay if you don’t have it all figured out yet. No one does. Think of it this way: a baby doesn’t start walking right away when it comes out of its mother’s womb. It has to learn to lay on its tummy, sit up, crawl and then walk. Don’t be afraid to fail forward!
Also keep this in mind:
Everything is figureoutable. Click To TweetAre you where you want to be right now? What did you do for you to be where you’re at currently?
Have you taken any steps towards making your dreams come true?
As we head into the weekend, I hope this post makes you get up and get moving. If it has helped you in any way, please share with your family and friends to help them too!
Happy Friday!
