Let’s be honest. When it comes to fall and winter, we tend to “let go” of our skincare routine, especially on our legs. We go days without shaving and rely on jeans and long pants to get through the harsh weather. And when we come out on the other sunny side, we’re faced with a hairy jungle and dry and flaky skin.
I don’t know about you, but for me, it’s a pain to incorporate skincare as a whole after you’ve already taken a long shower/bath, am I right?
Total first-class, first world problems, by the way.
Seriously. You’ve already exfoliated, shaved, and if you’re like me, washed your thick hair three times so when it comes down to lotioning up, you kind of skip it. I mean, you still have your face and neck to take care of, right?
Well friends, with summer around the corner (I can’t believe it’s here on Friday!), I thought I’d share my tips and an easy skincare routine I’ve stumbled upon. Trust me I’ll be practicing this all summer long, since you know, it’s shorts, dresses, and skirts season.
Without further ado, here are my easy summer skincare tips and review of my latest skincare toy, the BeautyBio Radiance Body Oil:
Make it a point to exfoliate
At least once a week, slough off the dirt and top layer of your skin. You’re exposed to free radicals all week (cigarette smoke, pollution, etc.) so take a deeper layer off! I like to do this when I know I have a rest day from the gym the following day.
Keep extra moisture on lockdown.
When getting out of the shower, I don’t dry off completely before I moisturize. To keep your skin extra hydrated, keep a thin later of water on your skin before you start slathering. Personally, it helps keep my skin softer, longer. Just pat dry instead of wiping all the water off your skin.
Take vitamins on a daily basis.
What you put into your body shows up on your skin. For me, I know what my skin hates (fried foods and Hershey’s chocolate) and what it loves. Aside from eating vegetables and drinking lots of water, take high-quality vitamins. You don’t get enough nutrients from food so close that gap by taking vitamins that will help your skin. I take USANA’s BioMega (fish oil) to maintain skin health and Proflavnol C (vitamin C) daily to keep inflammation away. What you consume internally will show externally so take care of your skin below the surface too!
Moisturize with a good body oil.
For summer, I’ve learned that I like to switch things up. Instead of lotion that has a ton of fragrances (must keep the mosquitoes far away as possible!), I prefer a body oil to get that extra glow. When you find a good one, you’ll want to moisturize after those showers instead of skipping it! For me, a great body oil is one that doesn’t leave your clothes sticking to your skin or make you slide off the couch, haha!
My review:
The BeautyBio Radiance Body Oil is ah-mazing! It soaks right into the skin and leaves no greasy residue (can you believe that?!) so you don’t have to wash your hands after application. From first impressions, I was shocked to see that I didn’t have to wash my hands afterwards, which is what I’ve done with body oils in the past and other lotions. No lie when I say that it’s actually so easy to moisturize after showers now! I actually look forward to it and that’s saying a lot.
The great part about this oil is that you don’t need a lot of it either! I find two pumps per leg and one pump per arm is enough. And when I say pump, I mean a dropper amount of pump. I also love that you can also use this body oil on your hair and nails! #Winning
Dare I say that you’ll feel very “leggy” after you put some of this myrrh-er radiance body oil on? Yep. Put on some shorts and I’m pretty sure you cannot not to look at and admire your pretty legs in the mirror.
Speaking of legs, it’s almost shorts weather! To kick off the summer, I wanted to give you a chance to win a bottle to get that glow all summer long!

Tell me, what do you enjoy most about summer? Do you use body oil year round or is a summer thing for you?
Note: This post is NOT sponsored by BeautyBio. I’ve purchased a bottle of the Radiance Body Oil for my mom for Mother’s Day and she loved it so much. When I won a giveaway with their brand, they accidentally sent me a second bottle and I thought I’d share the love with you guys!
