Getting Into the Holiday Spirit

I’m going to be honest here. With Christmas only 15 days away from today, I have to admit that I’ve been having a hard time getting into the holiday spirit. Even being ahead on my Christmas shopping, having watched both Home Alone 1 and 2, Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, Elf and Christmas Chronicles, I’m still not there yet.

And I have no clue why either.

And yes, I did decorate. Putting up the Christmas tree, lights and even wrapping presents in pretty paper. I can’t believe I said that considering I usually don’t wrap presents until like a day or two before Christmas, haha! I even went looking for extra holiday decorations and got a few small poinsettias too.

Anyway, is it weird that I’m just not feeling the holiday spirit yet?

I want to be, but I’m just having a hard time this year. Maybe doing some baking, making a gingerbread village, driving around looking at Christmas lights and actually doing Christmas shopping in person will help. And that’s saying a lot because I absolutely detest holiday traffic and packed malls. Can you say, #CyberGirl?

What have y’all been up to for the holidays? Have you seen your favorite Christmas movies, done any shopping or decorating yet?

Are you in the festive mood or do you feel like you’re running around trying to get ready for everything that you don’t have time to slow down to enjoy the holiday spirit?

Personally, I hope I get out of this Christmas rut soon. I just want to soak up all things holidays before it’s over in the blink of an eye. Christmas is my favorite holiday (and season) of the year. And maybe that’s why it means more to me to actually “feel” the holiday spirit, get what I mean?

Do you ever find yourself having a hard time getting into the holiday spirit?

If so, what did you do to enjoy more of the holiday season?

Leave me a comment and let me know!

I haven’t been feeling that Holiday cheer either! Even though it’s tough without my Dad, I always try to be happy and festive… house decorated right after Thanksgiving, shopping done early… but this year I’ve been dragging my feet. Tree just went up, shopping not even started… lol. I should be happier because my family is coming to visit this year, but since we lost Bosco last year at Christmas, it’s just been really sad…. It just doesn’t feel like Christmas… but hoping that changes when my family is here!

Hope we both find the some holly, jolly Christmas spirit soon! xo

Oh, I’m SO glad I’m not the only one, Jess! I feel like everyone’s feeling festive except for me. I may not understand fully what it’s like to lose a pup, but considering I’ve known you awhile, I felt like I was Bosco’s puppy aunt so I’m sad too. Is your address the same? DM me on Instagram. I want to make sure I got it right!

I hope we both find the Christmas spirit soon too! x
