For what it’s worth: It’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start over.” —F. Scott Fitzgerald
For the last several weeks, I’ve been pondering how to share my thoughts on the topic of starting over.
I figured if I don’t stumble my way through this article trying to articulate my thoughts the best way I know how, I’d never hit the publish button so here we go.
I hate starting over.
If I could sum it up in a short sentence, that would be it. Yep.
Whether it’s coming back to the gym after a hiatus to rebuilding a business, it doesn’t matter what it is, I just really dislike going back to square one with anything.
When I was young, I didn’t mind it much. Maybe it’s because I knew I’d have a lot of time to figure out what I wanted in life. Now, as an adult, I feel like I’m running out of time.
Looking back, I have so much regret. Regret in that I didn’t just begin taking action in doing the thing I loved: tapping into my creativity.
I’m thankful for my day job I’ve had for the last decade as it has allowed me to continue to work in the luxury fashion industry. However, for the past two years, since my days are packed when it comes to Fashion Months, I don’t have time to have a creative outlet.
That said, even though I know I’ll be busy with my day job in a few weeks, I want to try my best to start over. I miss my blog, newsletter, and posting on my social media accounts.
After having some time away from my social media and newsletter, I wanted to share with y’all what I plan on changing as I begin again.
PERSONAL STYLE
Nearly two years ago, I shared my heart as to why you don’t see my face often when I publish pieces of content. Well, I’m still in the same spot in terms of health. However, the good thing is, after a two year hiatus, I’ve been back at the gym and also recently put a food plan in place.
As I’ve mentioned in the past, the style part of my brand is the most difficult for me due to my weight gain. The part I am happy with is that I’m still gravitating towards neutrals and classics. When I have a moment in the next few months, I plan on doing a closet purge and if you’re interested, I will be happy to share that process with y’all.
For this season of She Sweats Diamonds, I plan to share with you the importance of purchasing less, however, with a major focus on high-quality pieces, even with casual outfits. The goal is to show y’all how to style pieces through outfit collages to prove to y’all that cost divided by times per wear is the way to live, especially if you love fashion.
BLOG TOPICS
Providing value for you guys by writing about my personal experiences has brought me so much joy. Here are some upcoming changes:
Discontinued topics: Sustainable living and product reviews
Over the course of the last year or so, I’ve found that it’s hard to know what brands are truly sustainable and/or cruelty-free due to greenwashing. That said, I no longer want to unknowingly lead you guys astray by recommending brands/products that may not be sustainable and/or cruelty-free. I prefer to leave this in the hands of more qualified influencers who have an established voice and authority in this subject.
When it comes to full-on product reviews, I’m going to be real with you and flat out say that I’m not a fan of doing them. Product reviews are so time-consuming to do especially in a blog article format. And you guys know me. When it comes to my articles, they will always be high-quality. My rule of thumb is a minimum of 500 words.
The good news? This doesn’t mean I won’t share more of them in the future. With so many products and so little time, I just won’t do full-length articles like I used to do. Though I may make an exception from time to time if a product is absolutely ah-mazing because secrets don’t make friends.
New topics: Home decor and lifestyle
I’m so excited to share with you that as I continue to explore my home decor style, I’m going to be taking you all along on the journey! I’ve realized that I’m somewhat of a homebody and also thoroughly enjoy consuming content on home interiors so expect to see more inspiration-related articles from me too!
For lifestyle content, I’m in love with the idea of sharing more inspiration on luxury lifestyle, intentional living, and the magic of the holiday season along with new-ish topics such as gardening, liquid collagen, emotional intelligence and my faith.
I also plan to sprinkle in a few tried-and-true recipes as well. However, it will be super easy-to-follow recipes. If it’s not easy to follow for me, I won’t be sharing them with you at all! You’re welcome.
DESIGN
For the past year, I’ve started to get an idea of what vibes I want She Sweats Diamonds to have and it feels so good! Actually, I already know who I want to hire to help me elevate the value of my content as well as improve the look and feel of my website and brand. More on this later!
For now, this is the direction I will take She Sweats Diamonds as we end the year and head into 2023!
What do you guys think? I’m open to any ideas/suggestions so don’t be shy and reach out to me.
