When all else fails, take a vacation. —Betty Williams
A few weeks ago, I shared a very laid back outfit with faux leather joggers.
This week, I wanted to give you some inspiration on how to restyle and dress up the same joggers.
Since Christmas is coming up, I wanted to show you how easily you can level up your look by switching out two important staple pieces.
Here are some tips on how you can recreate this look to make it your own:
GO FOR SOLID COLORS
If you’re planning on branching out and trying a new-to-you trend, do little to no prints. By going for solid colors, you can get dressed quicker for those after-work holiday parties. Instead of worrying if certain prints from your wardrobe will go together, you can just throw on your outfit and head out the door!
Once again, I went with the classic no-fail black to anchor my outfit. And to add a festive touch, I went with my red cape blazer to top off my look in a unique way.
ADD INTEREST WITH SHOES/ACCESSORIES
This is the part where you can have a lot of fun with your look by playing with your accessories. A fun clutch, edgy handbag or sunglasses-inducing earrings can definitely take your outfit up a million notches. Or if you’d rather, you can add some fun kicks.
Personally, I’m not one for tons of glitter or sequins. However, adding a fun lace pump makes my heart so happy! And if I had a diamond or even a sparkly statement necklace, I know it’d make the look even better! Remember, less is more. So if you’re going for statement earrings, forego the necklace and vice versa.
GO FOR AN EFFORTLESS FEEL
The goal is to look like you didn’t try to hard to put together your outfit. When you can look at yourself in the mirror and can see/feel effortless, then you did a good job! And if you’re feeling daring or just want to be a bit more extra, you can choose to wear sequins instead of a basic color. Just make sure your sequin top is a neutral color or cut to keep your look unique yet classy.
Zara faux leather joggers (under $40!) | Club Monaco tank top (old) | Cape Blazer (old; similar red cape blazer) | Brian Atwood Lace Pumps (c/o Clotheshorse Anonymous – see here styled with work outfit and casual outfit) | Sunglasses (similar cat eye sunglasses) | Lip color combo: Mac lip pencil, matte liquid lipstick in Sell Out, Hourglass lip gloss in Unreal
I know athleisure outfits and joggers in general may not be up your alley, but I’ve taken a liking to it. Stay tuned because I’ve got one more holiday look coming your way!
How do you like this look?
Let me know if you end up copying this look and what you like/don’t like about it!
Side note: I’m not not sure where I stand in terms of faux leather or real leather. I honestly don’t know which type is better for the environment. For now, I’m going with faux leather. However, I promise to report back as I look more into this type of fabric.
