The second quarter of 2019 is here and I’m ready for a brand new season. Frankly, I’m ready for brand new spring clothes, shoes, bags, makeup (more on this later) and just new everything.
Do you ever feel that way about the changing of seasons? Like you want a fresh, clean slate to start over with? Sometimes, I have a hard time letting the winter season go because with it, I have to say goodbye to things like OTK boots, sweaters, winter scents and hearty food like chili and stews for another year. At the same time, I feel like we’ve been stuck with cold weather for awhile. I mean, it was back to 40 degrees this morning!
With a new month, quarter and season here, I’ve decided to slowly change up some things. Aside from purging my closet again (which will happen sometime this month), I want to share what I’ve been doing.
I’ve been quiet here on the blog for awhile lately. My being gone is due to two reasons: 1) I’ve been feeling uninspired and 2) Self-care has been one of my top priorities. I’ve been upping my workouts at the gym, eating healthier and drinking more water. On top of that, I’ve been actually going to bed at an earlier time. I know, someone must’ve seen a pig fly somewhere, haha!
Honestly, I figured that it would be easier to maintain my Instagram account for the time being and just step away from the blog a bit more to take care of myself.
And it’s done wonders for me.
Sometimes, I feel guilty for not posting on here because I’ve worked so hard to build this space. However, lately, the more I thought about blogging, the more I felt the desire to be distant from it. So, in order to keep myself from burning out, I decided to step away before the burn out began.
It isn’t easy blogging while working a full-time job so to keep myself sane, I’ve been taking more me time to keep up my practice of self-care.
And one of my favorite ways to practice self-care is to get a manicure. I haven’t scheduled my much-needed mani yet, but I thought I’d share my favorite pink and neutral nail polishes for spring with you.
Here are my all-time favorites:
OPI Dulce de Leche
This shade is perfect for spring as it’s much closer to the light mauve, pink family. If you’re looking for a bit of color, but not too much, this one would be it.
Dior Vernis Gel Shine & Long Wear Nail Lacquer in Incognito
The ultimate pinky nude polish! I swear by this color as well as OPI’s Bubble Bath (I’m wearing their gel). It’s in the same family as OPI’s Dulce de Leche, but darker. Just a note, the light pink color that’s shown on Nordstrom’s website isn’t the true color should you shop with that retailer.
OPI Samoan Sand
This shade is very much a neutral so I’d find a swatch of it before buying because I personally think it looks best on tan to darker skin tones.
MiniLuxe Signature Polish in St. Barts
I purchased this polish on a whim last year after my appointment at MiniLuxe. It’s very sheer almost like Essie’s Ballet Slippers. MiniLuxe’s polishes aren’t available to purchase online so you’ll have to buy them in-store which I highly recommend anyway.
OPI Tiramisu for Two
Another OPI favorite, this shade is closer to the nude family, but has a very light pink undertone to it.
Formula X
I’m not sure what happened, but this brand is no longer in business. Their Instagram account has been inactive for two years and Sephora stopped carrying their products. However, this shade still a favorite of mine so I’ll be holding on to it for awhile.
I hope you enjoyed today’s post and that you take some time to give (or schedule) yourself a manicure! Go head. You deserve it!
