Beauty Products I’m Currently Testing
I always find beauty in things that are odd and imperfect — they are much more interesting. — Marc Jacobs
Recently, I talked about some beauty products I discovered and wanted to experiment with and test out.
Since I had health issues for the last several weeks, I wanted to wait until Black Friday to nab some products I’ve been eyeing (you know, because #DoctorBills), but rather on a smaller budget.
I wanted to share with you some skincare and makeup products I’ve been test driving for about a week or so. In the next few months, I’ll slowly roll out product reviews for you guys as I want to ensure that I give the products ample test time.
SKINCARE
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Hyaluronic Marine Oil-Free Moisture Cushion
I came across this skincare product during Nordstrom’s Beauty Event a few months ago (I promise a YouTube video is coming). I was given a small pot of this as a gift and so far, I’ve emptied the small jar (which never happens by the way!). But! Guess what I’m going to do? I’m going to nab it in a bigger jar at Sephora and stick it in the fridge. The reason why I’m putting this product in the fridge is to see if the formula changes and I love it when I put cool-feeling products on my skin, haha! The formula is cool to the skin and doesn’t leave a residue on my hands when I rub it on my face (which is a major win in my book). Let’s see if there will be a difference in my skin!
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta(R) Peel Extra Strength Daily Peel
I also discovered this product during the Nordstrom Beauty Event, but bought it just last month. I heard this product is great for helping remove milia. After doing a ton of research, I didn’t want to see an esthetician come at me with a needle to my face so I settled for trying this peel. I have a ton of milia on my face and want to see if it really does the trick. That and to see if it reduces redness around my nose. Considering the product is extra strength, I’m having to use it every other day to ease my skin into it. I’m very curious to see what will happen to as I continue to use it! Keep you posted on this for sure!
boscia You’re Pore-fect Charcoal Set
I’ve been looking for a new brand to try out for my skincare routine, particular in the cleansing and mask department. I got this set during Sephora’s VIB sale and love the cleanser so far. It warms as I rub it on my skin so I like that! I’ve tried the black mask once and have used the hydration gel a few times. The set is $41 and that includes good-sized product of the Detoxifying Black Cleanser, White Charcoal Mattifying MakeUp Setting Spray, Luminizing Black Mask, and Revitalizing Black Hydration Gel is a pretty good deal to me!
Simple Micellar Wipes
Since Pond’s decided to change the formula on my favorite face wipes I’ve used for about five years, I decided to switch to Simple. So far, I like it. I plan on testing with with a face full of pretty heavy makeup to see if it’ll do the job!

MAKEUP
For makeup, I wanted to test products more specifically in the eye makeup realm along with a few nude pink lip products.
Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette
I’m working on a neutral eyeshadow palette post and man, let me say that it’s been hard. I purchased this palette during Sephora‘s VIB sale last month to give it a shot!
Moodstruck Pressed Shadow Quad Palette
I bought some concealer and an eyeshadow palette from my friend, Karen, a few years ago. I loved her products so I thought for my eyeshadow palette post, I would check out some updated makeup products from her.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Magic Marc’er Precision Pen Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
When I was in Sephora earlier this fall, I was in there for one thing: my favorite, affordable liquid eyeliner ($14). Well, they ran out so Rachel and I went around the entire store hunting down EVERY liquid eyeliner and met up at one spot. I narrowed it down based on reviews online and was so nervous to spend this much on eyeliner! Although this pen is $30, so far, I can see why!
Marc Jacobs Beauty The Face III Buffing Foundation Brush
I’ve been told by Armani beauty associates to not use a BeautyBlender as it traps product in the sponge, therefore, wasting a ton of product. So, I went on the hunt for a foundation brush. I scoured so many reviews, but ultimately trusting Sabrina‘s opinion (she’s one of my favorite beauty bloggers). The woman knows her makeup because I found a blog post about foundation brushes and took my time reading it. I ended up settling for Marc Jacobs and since it was Black Friday, why not? I plan on using it with my favorite foundation, Armani Power Fabric (which is a great foundation for oily skin by the way; I’m shade 7)!
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
A few weeks ago, my bestie was in town so one of the days she was here, we spent part of our morning shopping. I needed to pick up some new concealer as the one I was currently using started to cake. I had it for awhile so I knew it was also the age and why it caked because I never had that problem before.
The cult favorite among bloggers for years as been Nars. So I tried a lot of shades that morning. Sarah helped me pick my shade (which is Ginger) and lo and behold, it was sold out! I ended up ordering it online with an in-store associate and so far, I’m seeing why people love it so much!
MAC Nude Lipstick
I had lost both tubes of my favorite lipstick, Estee Lauder in Intense Nude. It was at the end of day on Black Friday so I jumped online and grabbed some MAC lipstick and chose the shade Mehr. I’ve test-driven it a few times so far! And the funny part? I just found BOTH tubes of my favorite lipstick just last night, haha!
MAC Lip Pencil
While I was online looking at lipstick, I decided to nab some lip pencils. I chose Spice for my brown nude lipsticks and Soar for my pink nudes. Not going to lie, I blame Megan for both lip pencil shades as I’ve seen her use them a lot with her makeup looks!
