Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. —Romans 12:2 (ESV)
With so many people turning to Jesus and wanting to learn more about faith this past week, I knew I had to pivot on what article to publish.
As someone who went from being a Buddhist to agnostic to a Christ follower, what an adventure it’s been these past two decades!
Walking with Jesus is easy and following Him is hard (more on this later) so I wanted to share some books I’ve read that have added to my walk with Him and real value to my life.
One of the easiest ways to learn more about God is reading.
Aside from reading the Bible, here are five faith-based books for those who are looking to add some layers to their journey.
BEAUTIFUL OUTLAW BY JOHN ELDREDGE
This is one of the top faith-based books I’ve ever read! I found this book/author through my small group years ago and it really changed my perspective on Who God is.
I’ve been a Christian for over 20 years and it wasn’t until a little over five years ago that I learned more about God’s personality/character. He’s funny?! What?
In my prayers, I asked Him to show me His sense of humor and boy, did He show it, haha!
JESUS CEO BY LAURIE BETH JONES
If you’re an entrepreneur or are in the business industry, this is the book for you. I feel that even if you’re not a believer, the author does a great job sharing Jesus’s leadership style.
You’ll learn that his ways of leading are STILL applicable today. Also, this book was published in the early 90’s so you’ll laugh at some of the things she mentions like cassette tapes, lol!
If you consider yourself a leader and want to get better at being one, trust me when I say, “READ. THIS. BOOK!”
I’ve learned so much and this is definitely the kind of book you’ll want to read over and over again. I know I’ll be studying it carefully and applying lessons I’ve learned to my life for years to come!
MOVING MOUNTAINS BY JOHN ELDREDGE
Looking back, I really wish I knew about this book the moment it was published.
My prayer life has changed drastically after reading this book earlier this summer. If you’re new to Jesus/Christianity, you’ll learn so much about how to pray, not just what to pray!
Definitely one of the top faith-based books I’ve ever read!
WINNING THE WAR IN YOUR MIND BY CRAIG GROESCHEL
We’ve all had to fight negative thoughts at one time or another. If you want to learn more about how to identify negative thought patterns and how to rewire your brain, check out this book.
Pastor Craig gives you actionable steps throughout the book so you can apply your knowledge right away too!
TRANSFORMED BY REMI ADELEKE
If you’re looking for a book that will leave you speechless AND motivated to take action, read Transformed by my friend, Remi. It’s a truly life story about his journey from Nigeria to the Bronx to the Navy Seals! Aside from being a husband and father, he’s also an actor, author, and entrepreneur!
Remi is wonderful writer! You will be laughing and crying. After I finished reading his story, I felt like I could run through walls, it’s that good!
Life is already hard enough, but you will be able to handle it easier when you have Christ at the center and as the foundation of your life.
I hope this article helps you in your walk with Jesus! And please let me know if you end up reading any of these books. I’d love to talk to you about them!
And if you have any questions or prayer requests, please feel free to leave a comment or email me!
