You know you’ve read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend. —Paul Sweeney
With only five books under my belt, I definitely feel like I’ve had a slow start to reading this year.
And this is pretty slow since I consider myself a huge reader. I love a good fiction book, but I’m a major sucker for self-help type of books.
If you’re not growing, you’re dying, right?

Since I’m focusing on personal development more and more, I wanted to share five books on my reading list of various topics that I’m looking forward to reading throughout this summer.
How People Grow by Dr. Henry Cloud & Dr. John Townsend
I LOVE Dr. Henry Cloud and have heard him speak at Gateway Church in person around this time last year. I’ve already finished this book around end of June, beginning of July, but feel like I sped through it too fast and need to read it again, so it’s back on my reading list!
The Curated Closet: A Simple System for Discovering Your Personal Style and Building Your Dream Wardrobe by Anushka Rees
I heard about this book through Lydia when she featured it on one of her videos and got so excited! I haven’t purchased a fashion-related book in quite some time so I’m looking forward to see how this book can help me curate and build my dream wardrobe!
Sandcastle Kings: Meeting Jesus in a Spiritually Bankrupt World by Rich Wilkerson Jr.
I’ve heard so much about this book these last several years. Since one of my major focuses this year is my personal relationship with God, I have to make time to read this book this summer. Have any of my sisters-in-Christ read this book? Let me know what you think!
People over Profit: Break the System, Live with Purpose, Be More Successful by Dale Partridge
I’m a huge fan of Dale’s. His posts on Instagram about marriage, relationships, family and life really make me think and be more aware of my actions. Since Dale is a family man, he’s definitely someone I’d want to learn from in terms of business.
Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
Finances is another area I’m diving into this year (if you’re reading this Connor/Nathan, shout out to you both for helping me!) and this book was recommended to me since I wanted to learn more about the psychology side of finances. Mind(set) is everything, you know!
That’s all that’s currently on my reading list for now. I’m a bit slow on my reading this year as I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any more books until I finish the ones that are currently on my bookshelf, ha!
