Recipe: How I Make My Acai Bowl

Recipe: How I Make My Acai Bowl | She Sweats Diamonds

It’s Wellness Wednesday again, friends! Since I know we all binged a little (or a lot) over the holiday weekend, I thought I’d share an acai bowl recipe I made recently to get you back on track. This is my first time making an acai bowl so please adjust according to your taste buds. I’ll be posting other recipes in the future as I experiment to find the best and yummiest combos.

For this recipe, I wanted some bites of chocolate, but not indulge too much so I used Love Crunch granola which I talked about in a past foodie post.

Here’s what you’ll need (sidenote, ignore the nutrition facts below the recipe; I have no idea how to get rid of that line):

[yumprint-recipe id=’4′]To make it healthier and more flavorful, here are some of my suggestions:

Additional base options:

Orange juice (if you want your acai bowl more fruity)
Coconut water
Coconut oil (for healthy fats)
Avocado slices (for healthy fats and because #avocado)
Greek yogurt (I love Greek Gods Greek Yogurt in Honey Vanilla)
Kefir (if you want your bowl with a bit more tang and still get in some probiotics)
Kale (I wash and freeze any leftover kale from my meal preps for smoothies)
Spinach (wash and freeze to use as needed)
Maca powder (so many health benefits to using this!)
Peanut butter powder (I use PB2)

Additional topping options:

Other fruit like pomegranate seeds, strawberries, raspberries, pink dragonfruit, mango, cherries, figs,  etc.
Coconut flakes
Mint leaves
Honey
Peanut butter
Almond butter
Cacao nibs
Bee pollen
Edible flowers

I hope you enjoyed this acai bowl recipe! The ingredients I used in today’s recipe gave it a very natural sweet flavor. I’ll be using yogurt, sweetened almond milk and extra frozen fruit to sweeten it some more and thicken up the base next time.

Let me know if you make this recipe and if you use any other ingredients that aren’t on the list above!

Hey girlie! I used strawberry protein powder because I wanted a more fruity bowl. I’d use chocolate protein powder if you end up having strawberries, peanut butter and coconut flakes as your toppings if you want a more decadent kind of dessert. 😉
