As most of my regular readers know, I’m not a trendy person at all. I tried to give some trends a chance, but I just couldn’t give in. And I still can’t. I recently tried the straw bag trend by ordering one. When it came in, it looked terrible! Instead, I sent it back and opted for a beautiful vegan leather bag with wooden handles to be my summer “it” bag. And I’m in LOVE!
Anyway, I’ve learned over this last year that I’d rather invest in my wardrobe. I want to open my closet and see things I absolutely love and I want the same for you too.
For the 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, you may have noticed that I posted mostly about beauty rather than clothes and shoes. It’s because I was very underwhelmed with the selection and offers.
With that said, I refuse to promote an $18 shirt you don’t need or an item that will fall apart before the season is over.
And although I’m a small blogger, I want any commissions I make through the links you choose to click on to be honest and from the heart. I will always and forever share things I really love. And if you love it, thank you for using my links should you choose to click on them and make purchases. And if you hate what I pick or my personal style, it’s okay too.
I want to stay in love with blogging by sharing what I genuinely love.
Anyway, when the 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Saleopens to the public tomorrow, I want you to shop smart. First and foremost, take inventory of your closet and write down what you need or need to replace. From there, invest in items. Yes, I said it. Splurge on high-quality items when it comes to your wardrobe. Then purchase things you need to restock on or simply want like beauty, jewelry and home.
If you want to, go in-store, touch the fabrics and swatch colors. See it all before you buy. Or you can do it like me, order it all, then return what you don’t want. Just remember to be honest with yourself when you’re debating on keeping something.
With that said, here’s my personal haul and reviews of the 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale:
I was SO excited to order this cardigan that I nabbed it first during the #NSale. I ordered it in a size 6 in the rose. The description said to size down as it ran large. And since I wear 8/10s these days, I went for a US6. I was still wrong. It was still WAY oversized. I should’ve sized down to the US2 (for a more fitted look). That tells you how big this cardi runs.
On top of that, the cardigan is 100% acrylic, which is super soft. However, since it’s made of acrylic, I know it’ll pill like crazy before the season is over.
I thought this would be a cute shirt for work and weekends so I ordered it in a medium in navy. I ended up wearing it to pick blueberries earlier this week (hey, I’m on vacation from the 9-5) and it was pretty big.
However, I’ve washed and dried it since then and I feel like it’s now a size small, but it fits a lot better!
I’ve talked about this candle set before as I purchased it during last year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’ve burned two candles from the set I bought last year and they each lasted SO long! Trust me and buy this set for a gift and one for yourself. You won’t regret it!
One of the beauty products I first eyed when the catalog came out was this face palette. The colors are more beautiful in person than it is in pictures. However, once I tried it, I felt like it was a bit chalky, but that’s just me and my high expectations…
I’m being dead serious when I say this, but I didn’t buy this beautyblender holder because I was holding out. I was hoping beautyblender would come out with their own holder for their famous makeup sponges and they did it! And just in time for the 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale too! I was so proud, haha!
For $35, you get a solid cleanser, the holder and two blush pink sponges. And to me, it’s such a great deal!
Considering this cardigan is 100% cotton, it looks very promising! And with lavender as a color option, this could be a great layering piece for next spring too! I’m wondering what this style will look like on me so this is currently in my cart.
I had this on my wishlist, but am very skeptical as I don’t know how it’ll fit through the thighs. My friend Kim of Color & Chic tried it on in her stories yesterday so I think I may just order it to try it.
I don’t own many TB things (only a tote and sandals), but this small tote is back on my radar after I saw it in person! It’s small enough to be worn as a crossbody and big enough to fit sunglasses, lipstick, wallet, phone, keys and a bit more.
I’m REALLY debating on nabbing this to replace my old RM Avery crossbody bag I always wear. However, the color choices are so hard to pick from: a blush pink, nut (which is a brown shade) and black. Which one would you pick?
If I’m being honest, I hated most of the shoe selection that was offered this year, especially the sneakers. I’m a huge Nike and APL fan and this was the only style I liked from the sale. And after seeing it in person, it’s not so bad!
I’ve had this duffel bag for two years and it’s held up very well through weekend trips out-of-state travels. It’s pretty strong considering I’ve weighed it down and walked long distances carrying it by the handles. Think long walks from the subway to hotel in NYC…twice! True story.
I saw the smaller luggage in person and it’s very cute and pretty sturdy! For a set of TWO luggage pieces, this is a can’t-beat price! Seriously considering adding set to my cart, but in blush pink! What do you think?
I’ve tried the neuLASH serum before and it works! This was in my cart because I want thicker eyebrows. Note, I said ‘was’ because I waited too late to pull the trigger. But I did get a single tube in exchange for the face palette I returned.
I swatched this set in store while here in Jersey and loved the lip liner and both lipsticks. However, both lipsticks in the set look so similar to other lipsticks I already own so I passed on this set. I will say that I’ll be buying the Pillowtalk lip liner in the future though!
I hope you enjoyed my tips, haul and reviews and that it’ll help in some day if you plan on navigating the sale.
Please don’t worry if you aren’t a Nordstrom cardholder.
